Challenges
- Alcoholism
- Nutrition
One of the major challenges we are facing is malnutrition (under nutrition) in both children and adults. This can be attributed to, lack of nutrition knowledge leading to poor dietary practices, high prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS and TB coupled with poverty, lack of pre natal and post natal care for children and poor sanitation leading to high incidence rates of diarrhea and especially among children.
We have taken various measures to address the above issue which among others include:
- Nutrition education, counseling and supplementation with Fortified Blended Flours (FBF) as well as nutrition assessment and monitoring of our clients progress and especially the children
- Community awareness campaigns to address issues affecting the communities that may indirectly contribute to malnutrition such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria and sanitation.
- Training and encouraging our clients on kitchen gardening and small animal husbandry with the aim of increasing consumption of micronutrients and thus reducing the incidence and prevalence rates of micronutrient deficiencies.

3. Stigma, disclosure and self acceptance
4. Some clients (for their own reasons) do not want home visits.
5. Lack of transport when taking drugs to the stations (vehicle).
6. Some patients do not want to take ARVs from their satellites making decongesting the clinic hard.
7. Some clients do not keep their appointment dates.
8. Poverty
How we are solving this: -
- Encouraging clients to join support group where they are advised by other members.
- Formation of alcoholic support group facilitated by a doctor from another clinic.
- Encouraging clients to have Community Health Volunteer who can visit them regularly.
- Encouraging clients to be treated at their satellites for minor complains.
- Holding health talks to the clients who visit the clinic.
- Checking on appointments date and tracing those who did not turn up by making calls and home visits.
- For transport problem we are calling upon CRS to help us with a vehicle.
